Phentermine by obese patients
A number of case studies were carried out on the use of Phentermine by obese patients. One such case history was published in a medical journal in 1997.
This case study was carried out on a 44 year old female having BMI, 35.5. She was treated by the combination or cock tail drug of Fenfluramine and Phentermine for one year. The dose was of 20mg of Fenfluramine three times a day and 30mg of Phentermine once in a day.
The result of echocardiography reveled thickened aortic and tricuspid valves with regurgitation. Due to progressive symptoms, replacement of mitral-valve and aortic-vlave were to be carried out after six months of stoppage of this combined drug. Also tricuspid-valve repairing became necessary.
Histopathological test was also carried out. The result demonstrated the intact valve structure for mitral and aortic valves. However, extended plaque-like process was found beside the leaflet surfaces though less extensive in aortic valve than mitral valve.
